The Power of Intent

July 29, 2008 · Filed Under Positive Thinking, Stress Management, Taking Action

I recently attended a Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the Professional Coaches Association of Michigan (PCAM) meeting. It is so wonderful being in a place with like-minded people.

The meeting facilitator started the meeting by asking the participants to set their intention for the meeting. I found that request powerful because instead of setting another New Year’s resolution this year, I set a “theme” word for 2008. And it was the word intention.

So I again went to the dictionary for the definition.

in× ten×tion 1. an act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result. 2. the end or object intended; purpose. 3. purpose of attitude toward the effect of one’s actions or conduct. 4. meaning or significance. 5. the person or thing meant to benefit from a prayer or religious offering.

Setting intentions for small and large moments in my life has positively moved me forward this year. If I feel stuck or unengaged, I stop and ask myself my intention for the moment. This single act has truly been empowering and has been a key component in propelling my life forward.

My posts are my intentions to inspire and empower my readers to live their destiny. Are you living yours?

So what is your intention after reading this post? What do you intend for today or this week? For that matter; what do you intend for this moment?

I would love to provide a complimentary 30 minute coaching session so you can experience the benefits personally and the power of intention.
