Whereas in August my post theme was light, September has been about doors if you have not realized that yet. So, it seemed fitting to share this quote from Tom Stoppard since we are getting close to exiting another month.
Think about how many times you enter and exit a door daily or even weekly or how about monthly. If you are working remotely or back to your office, think about the doors you use to exit those locations. Does that act of exiting have any meaning to you or is it just something you do on autopilot?
This quote came into my life about a year ago, and it was so appropriate at the time. Not from a literal sense, but figuratively. There were changes that were happening at that time and some decisions that had to be made about some “things” I needed to exit from.
I started contemplating this quote again this week as I changed its location in my planner. We are in times that are presenting us with exits. And, as with all things, we can choose how we look at things. Yes, you may be exiting something, yet the new entry or door could open to just what you needed. So instead of closing the door behind you think of it as opening the door into something new.
I cannot wait to use this as my new way of being mindful of exits.
