Are you ready to declutter? Here is a way for you to begin the decluttering process in a few minutes a day. It may also help you complete this challenge if you focus on items that are acceptable enough to be donated.
What do you get out of it? You will have removed some clutter and you will have benefited others by donating the items at the end of the 40 days. What do you have to lose except at least 40 items that are cluttering your life?
Here is how it works:
- Start with an empty box or bag.
- Every day select one item that you no longer use or love and place this in the box/bag to donate.
- At the end of the 40 days, place the box/bag in the donation box or drop off at your local charity/donation site or homeless shelter.
- Feel lighter, good about helping other and see less clutter.
Since Lent does start on Wednesday, February 17, consider instead of or in addition to giving something up for Lent, try the 40 items in 40 days challenge.
What about going bigger? Do a bag for donations, a bag to toss/trash, a bag for resale/to take to the consignment shop and a bag to recycle (think batteries, electronics, phones, etc.). That would lighten your home by 160 items.
I have done this challenge for the last two years. Join me in the 2021 Challenge. Let me know that you are joining he challenge. Email me by February 20 that you are joining me from February 17 through April 1 on the Challenge. If you email me, I will email you my handout, How to Get Off the List.
