In my journey this month to focus on health and fitness, I was looking for opportunities to ensure that the routines I established now will stick in the future.
Just like many people, I do well for a period of time after committing to health habits such as exercise, but then life gets in my way and one of the first things to go is my exercise routine.
Here are some techniques that I am using to make exercise a habit that pulls on me:
- Schedule it.
- Set a reminder.
- Lay out your gear.
- Pick a pleasurable activity.
- Head outdoors.
- Start small.
- Have a backup plan (rainy day then dancing it is).
- Set up a reward system (new shoes are in my future).
So far so good. I can say that in using a combination of these techniques this month I am feeling optimistic that I can continue with my exercise routine well into the future.
