National Nutrition Month ® 2019

March 9, 2019 by Michaeline

As a registered dietitian I celebrate National Nutrition Month® each year. I believe nutrition is important and transformative. That is why I chose my profession and that is why as a life coach I chose to address body clutter.

So, during this month, think about one thing you can do to transform your body, physical activity, eating or belief about food and health and then set a goal to do so.
Let me help you through coaching. For a free 30-minute introductory session, contact me.

Clutter Busting: Your Habit Thinking

October 13, 2018 by Michaeline

When we think about changing our habits, we usually decide to break bad ones. What if instead, we focused on making positive habits?

How would that shift in perspective change things for you?

Instead of:
…not drinking soda, you would drink beverages that nourish your body.
…not eating dessert, you would limit dessert to once per week or focus on fruit for dessert.
…not sitting on the coach anymore, you would move your body for 30 minutes five days a week.

Using positive statements…really affirmations… can change the tone of your intentions and probably your success.

So, what new habit do you want to incorporate into your life?

Holiday Joy: Healthy Eating

December 16, 2017 by Michaeline

While most holiday parties and festivities take place during the last three weeks prior to Christmas, it is possible to enjoy holiday celebrations without overindulging if you follow a few tips:

  • Plan some activities where food isn’t the primary focus and physical activity is the focus.
  • Before attending a party have a snack to take the edge off hunger.
  • Offer to bring a healthy dish to pass.
  • Commit to continue balanced meals, adequate fluids, and getting plenty of rest.
  • Don’t skip meals especially breakfast.
  • Keep your regular exercise schedule.
  • Plan some quiet time into your day to mediate, journal or relax.
  • Station yourself away from the buffet table so you make a conscious choice to eat.
  • Watch your alcohol intake for the sake of calories and commitment.
  • Save your indulgences for one or two favorites.

Enjoy the holidays doing the things that matter most to you including holiday foods and treats by planning ahead, taking care of yourself and staying aware.

Healthy Meals…Batch Cooking

September 30, 2017 by Michaeline

Besides using a menu cycle to help you eat more healthier, home-cooked meals consistently, also consider batch cooking.

Here are some tips:

  •  Use your slow cooker which can make a larger batch.
  • Prep ingredients for slow cooker meals ahead and freeze until ready to use.
  • Double up on recipes. Eat one now and one later in the week. Or eat one now and freeze another for six-weeks down the road.
  • Prep a larger portion of meat use some for one recipe and some for another the same week.
  • Prep meals for the week on Sunday or another day.

By cooking ahead or using batch cooking techniques you can ensure healthy meals are availbale for your family when you don’t have the energy or time for them.

What tips do you use?
