The first day of Spring 2021.

Spring to me means renewal…. growth…. freshness…. clarity…. hope.

What does Spring mean to you?

Holiday Joy: Healthy Eating

November 9, 2019 by Michaeline

As I was reviewing my holiday checklist today, I started planning my holiday menus and meals for the next several weeks as part of my holiday plan. And I thought that I would share some healthy holiday eating tips with you.

I know that the holidays seem like a permission slip to overindulge with food and drink. It is hard to turn down treats that may only be prepared once a year or as part of a family tradition. You can enjoy holiday foods and drink by, again, planning and employing some of these tips:

• Eat mindfully.
• Practice portion control.
• Keep hydrated.
• Don’t skip any meals.
• Eat only when hungry and stop when 80% full.
• Plan menus and prepare food ahead.
• Have a plan for food consumption prior to attending a party.

By using these tips, you will be able to eat, drink and be merry this holiday.

Creating New Habits

March 2, 2019 by Michaeline

Most times when we are attempting to change our habits, we approach it by giving something up. What if your approach was to create a new habit instead?
You can create new habits successfully by having a plan. Here are some tips for doing that:

  • Know your goal or destination: make it a SMART goal.
  • Write down what the goal means to you: identify the benefits of achieving the goal.
  • Consistent practice yields results: set up triggers to remind yourself of your goal such a sticky note on your mirror or affirmations or an alarm on your phone.
  • Acknowledge and take baby-steps: create small achievable action steps to move you toward your goal.
  • Work you goal into your daily routine: calendarize action steps toward achieving your goal into your day.
  • Be patient with yourself: work toward excellence and don’t expect perfection because you will then set yourself up for failure.
  • Be accountable: evaluate progress, be honest, take responsibility for missteps and refocus from lessons learned.

By applying these tips, you can make your new habit really stick.

So, what goal have you decided on
