Holiday Joy: The Art of Regifting

December 14, 2019 by Michaeline

This is my annual post about the art of regifting.

Do you regift? Have you considered regifting, but didn’t feel comfortable about it? Regifting is a great way to declutter new and unused gifts. But there is an art to regifting.

What could you regift this year to share some holiday joy with another?

More Holiday Savings- Regifting

October 13, 2012 by Michaeline

Each year in December I post about National Regifting Day which is the third Thursday in December.

This year I thought I would post on the subject earlier since this month I decided to focus on freeing up some holiday money. Another opportunity for some savings this year is to regift. Read more about regifting and consider using it as a tool to save money this holiday season.

The Journey Into Clutter Busting: Celebrate National Regifting Day on December 15

December 10, 2011 by Michaeline

I know that many people feel apalled at the idea of regifting. But I find it a useful tool in managing clutter. As I was going through my basement clutter busting journey this year I used it as an opportunity to evaluate items for potential regifts (yes, family and friends you may have been regifted).

Regifting is not about getting rid of junk or pawning something off on someone else. It is about passing on items that would be more appreciated by others or more useful to others. Note that there are definitely some rules to follow about regifting.

So as you finalize your holiday gift buying this year (if you haven’t already finished) do a quick evaluation of items that your could potentially be appreciated or used by someone else. And enjoy less clutter. Celebrate National Regifting Day.

Regift, Recycle…Save

November 26, 2010 by Michaeline

According to www.nationalregiftingday.com the third Thursday before Christmas is National Regifting Day. This year that date is December 16, 2010.

This date is particularly appropriate since the third Thursday of December it is the most common day for a holiday office party. And it seems that coworkers are the recipients of the majority of regifts.

So why not bring regifting out of the closet and turn your office or family gift exchange into a regifting party. And before you shut the door to that idea know that regifting is becoming more accepted mostly because it is a way to save holiday expenses and as a way to recycle.

Of course, if you regift there are some guidelines to follow.

Still not ready to regift then give others gift certificates or vouchers for the valuable gift of your time. Things such a yard work, baking or babysitting are possible gifts of time.
