The Power of Intent

I recently attended a Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the Professional Coaches Association of Michigan (PCAM) meeting. It is so wonderful being in a place with like-minded people.

The meeting facilitator started the meeting by asking the participants to set their intention for the meeting. I found that request powerful because instead of setting another New Year’s resolution this year, I set a “theme” word for 2008. And it was the word intention. Read more

A Little Thing Called Attitude

In my home office I have hung the poem “Attitude“  by Charles Swindoll in a prominent location. I have found that if I am having difficulty with certain situations in my personal or professional life I assess my attitude about it. In many of these instances it has been negative or I have not felt in control, challenged or committed to the stituation. Once I reframe my view, I easily become unstuck. So I find myself re-reading the poem regularly to remind myself that I have a choice daily about my attitude.

So if you are having difficulty with a situation, project, or person…check your attitude and see if you can realign your view. It might make a big impact on your approach.

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” ~Winston Churchill

What are you thinking?

What are your current thoughts? Were they negative or positive?

Over the next couple of days periodically stop and take inventory of your thoughts. What are they? Are you happy with the kind of thoughts that occupy your mind? Are you having more negative thoughts than you realized?

Are you habitually thinking the same thought(s) over and over? This may cause you to think that you aren’t choosing the thought. But you did make the choice. You can eliminate certain thoughts. Think of it another way…look at how many times you have chosen not to think positive thoughts.

Only you have control of what you think. You can retrain your mind to help you create the experiences you want. Make the choice of using your mind to help you get unstuck and move toward positive experiences.

So what are you thinking now?
