2022 Word Review – BE

January 21, 2023 by Michaeline

In my previous post, I shared that my word for 2023 is release. My word for 2022 was be.

So how did I do with being in 2022? Fair to good. I haven’t yet been 100% successful with my word. I never am. The goal is to set the intention and work toward it. To be aware and focus on that.

Even though some things changed for me, having a to do list and a schedule did not although there was more flexibility. I did practice more self-care. And I still want/need more time for reflection and quiet.

Overall, I feel that I was successful, not for the achievement of being more, but of being more aware and for that I am grateful.

Living with Purpose (Intention)

July 20, 2019 by Michaeline

The word I selected for 2019 was purpose.

It has been a while since I have checked in on my progress. Even the best of intentions can get side-tracked by life. Yet how we handle those set back, side-steps or barriers will determine our progress toward our goals or intentions.

I have shared many suggestions through out my posts on how to achieve your goals.

In thinking about that, I am refocusing and getting back to journaling in order to support my intention.

Do you need to refocus in order to live with intention? What will you do the achieve that?

Live with VIGOR©

July 6, 2019 by Michaeline

Several months ago, I was asked to do a presentation for a group that centered on the theme taking back your life. As I thought about the goals for the program and my audience, I focused on creating a vision, setting intentions, practicing gratitude, taking action and identifying daily practices. And VIGOR© became the acronym for that program and a part of my coaching practice. VIGOR© is:

• Vision
• Intention
• Gratitude
• Orchestration (action)
• Routine

I will be sharing with you some thoughts about VIGOR© over the next several weeks. Let’s start with the definition of vigor according to dictionary.com:

Vigor [vig-er]
Noun
1. active strength or force.
2. healthy physical or mental energy or power; vitality.
3. energetic activity; energy; intensity:
4. force of healthy growth in any living matter or organism, as a plant.
5. active or effective force, especially legal validity.

Any of those definitions would apply to the goal of taking back your life. Which of those speak to you?

Connecting Check In #8

September 1, 2018 by Michaeline

My intention for 2018 to connect has continued to be meaningful for me.

Where have eight months gone? It sure moves quickly or, so it seems. Which again gives me a light bulb moment for this post.

Connection happens in the moment. Sometimes we are so busy and moving from one thing to another that it almost feels like we don’t even take a breath. If only we had the time…

We all have 24-hours each day. What can you do to make the most of your time, so you can connect with others?

Connecting Check in #6

July 7, 2018 by Michaeline

I have been focusing on connecting or connectivity for six months already. Some days continue to be easier than others. And I continue to learn lessons from this practice.

One such lesson is being present. If you are present in the moment it is amazing how you can connect with others.

I would like to share some suggestions on how you can be present:

  • Practice meditation daily. Even if it is just for 10 minutes in the morning after you wake up. Set a timer, sit comfortably and focus on your breath. If thoughts wonder in, gently return to your breath.
  • Set mindfulness cues. Setting a chime on your computer or phone to go off on a regular schedule can encourage you to pause and be aware of what is happening in the moment.
  • Set your intention. Whether before an activity or the day. Before beginning something pause for a minute and determine what you intend. By focusing on the why, your desire will stay at the forefront and can make you present in the activity.
  • Reflect on your day. Each evening before bed review how present you were during the day. This can help you learn what works and doesn’t work.
  • Identify three good things. At the end of the day think about three good things or moments you had during the day. This sets an attitude of gratitude and attracts positive things to your life.
  • Be curious. Approach each encounter or activity with great interest. You can learn a lesson even from the most difficult situations and by focusing on the positive, it changes your perspective.

There are a lot of amazing benefits to being more present and mindful and being present helps you identify when you are fearful, resistant, procrastinating or resentful. By being aware you can work on those feelings.

So, do you intend to practice being present today? I intend to continue practicing.
